Behind the Scenes
How it began
Right after arriving on Kurima Island from Taipei, the team inspected the site and began preparing the base and line drawings the very next day. Little by little, the wall that would become “Blessing” started to take shape.
Support from the island
During the production period, warm gifts arrived every day from local residents, and a deep bond grew with “Nee-nee” from the diner Hanafu—communicating through a translation app.
The moment of completion
On the day it was finished, the village head presented a bouquet, and the mural even drew newspaper attention—filling the whole island with a celebratory mood. Through tearful goodbyes, the two vowed, “We’ll definitely come back,” making this piece especially meaningful to them as well.
